Q3-1.
What did you learn or experience from the training?

Since I participated in CPI 2016 and CPI2023 I am going to Focus on CPI 2016 learnings and experience as CPI 2016 was a motivation to apply for CPI 2023.

Participating in CPI2016 was my first wide and international experience but I learned and experienced a lot such as: Korean culture, Korean Traditional music and instruments, Korean language, Korean Dance and Korean Food. Beyond this I learned about different cultures as my CPIs colleagues were coming from different countries and by performing and leaning together with other CPIs participants and National Orchestra from NTOK it was a great experience as I learned more on networking and I have understood how music or any form of art can become a universal language that can connect Nations no matter their differences in culture.

Q2.
What made you decided to join the CPI program?
What did you expect from the program?

My biggest motivation to Join CPI was because of its main and unique objective of promoting international cultural exchange by giving an open space for culture actors and arts portioners across the world to learn from one another, particularly I was very interested to know more about Korean culture.

My expectation from the program was to learn and network with other CPI participants from different countries across the world and more particularly to learn from Korean cultural and arts initiatives and explore potential collaboration with Korean culture experts.

Q3-2.
What impressed you the most about the program?

I was very impressed on how the National theatre of Korea was providing music teachers (Instructors) to CPI participants and how these teachers(instructors) were very collaborative when teaching us which gave me and my CPIs colleagues an opportunity to stay motivated during the training and get more experience on Korean Traditional instruments even if language was to be a barrier.

I was also very impressed by the field trips we had during the training especially in Jindo National Gukak Center which gave us an opportunity to experience more on Korean Traditional Music, Korean Dance and Traditional instruments, more particularly I was very impressed by the great professional collaboration and guidance by our CPI coordinator Yennie Shon which made our stay in Korea a memorable one despite of speaking different languages and from different countries with different Cultures but she helped us to stay connected along the training.

Q4.
How has your experience changed after participating in the training and how has the program changed the way
you see your field? Also Were you able to apply what you learned or experienced in your current work?

Before CPI I was having a limited understanding on how arts and culture can be the source of opportunities to boost Creative economy and especially when it comes for Job Creation within cultural context, after participating in CPI 2016 I completely changed the way of seeing my field as got a lot of inspirations from CPI itself and from my CPI colleagues. I joined CPI in 2016 from education Sector as a high school teacher and Culture promoter at my school and as a member of Rwanda Music Federation, since my passion is in youth empowerment and career guidance using arts approaches, I was very much impressed by CPI having a school outreach component to ensure young people are part of the culture exchange ,here we went to Aju school and Songgok School, this was a great inspiration to me as I am passionate at youth empowerment. The learnings and inspirations I got from CPI program gave me a take home of applying them in my country by Creating an arts-based platform that enables me to start making impact in my community with arts and culture projects to help young people growing their talents at early age and use them for Job creation and This is why I started VOICE OF GENERATION TRAINING CENTER as an inspiration from participating in CPI program.

With the above training center, I am now able to apply CPI experience and Leanings trough The following arts and Cultural projects:

Students enjoying the festival through dance at School.

1. SCEP: Which Stands for Students Club Empowerment Program (This program is an Inspiration from CPI School outreach), the main aim of this program is to empower students’ clubs to become creative spaces that helps young people when at school to grow their talents withing their club using arts approaches especially performing arts. Under this Program we have “URWIZA Festival” it is in Kinyarwanda, but it stands for: “Space for Talents”, this Festival was launched during COVID in October 2020, and we will have it every year in June which means the 2nd edition will be in June 2025 our second edition is coming later as we were looking for funds and recovering from COVID19 and that is why I applied and participated in CPI2023 for Festival management skills so that as we move forward I will be able to contribute to its success.

1. FAMARTS Festival (This is an inspiration from sori international music festival): This festival take place in my community and happens in December of every year and was launched in 2023. This is a unique community Festival that brings together kids and their parents to experience Arts in different dimensions with a specific aim of using Arts approaches by helping young people aged from 5 to 12 years old understanding at early age their role in family sustainability. It is also an opportunity for families to welcome Arts at home where arts become a key enabler of a united family and creative family where parents create together with their kids.
