JATURI Performers Community

JATURI Performers Community has run its CPI program called 'Gae-hang' from July this year. In the program, 4 participants from the Philippines attended JATURI's dual-language classes about production and stage lighting design. The Community also collaborated with a Pilipino community in Korea at the same time. They watched local performances and met with local artists to build a network among artists.

Bilingual program on production

Participants worked with Theater Group Moksu to create 'ANG TANGGAPAN' which was brought to the stage of the 5th Incheon Dual Language Theater Festival on October 28th. 'ANG TANGGAPA' was dramatized and adapted for the stage in Tagalog from 'Bok-dok-bang' meaning a house agent, which is based on a short novel piece written by Taejoon Lee. The piece was performed in two languages.

Lighting design class

As a part of the class which is still on-going, CPI participants attended as observers to the lighting works of My Friend took away my shoes, which is a touring program by JATURI, youth education programs by local movie makers, and vocal concert by Play Campus. They also learned about a dimmer system by attending dimmer installation processes by Play Campus.

Community class

Participants also taught Tagalog to children from Pilipino immigrants with the Ida Village and taught the how to dance traditional Philippine dance while building a network with the immigrants. They also attended the autonomous policing activities done by Ida Village and Samsan Police Station to learn how the immigrants’ community is working with the local society.

Culture program

They made Kimchi and visited Gyeongbok Palace. In addition, they went to local theaters, Nanta performance, violin concert and vocal concert. The programs also included field visits to Incheon area including Songdo, Incheon Open Port and Wolmido Island. They participated a joint multi-language program, 'Babel Project' with theater performers from Russia, Vietnam and Korea.

Visits to local organizations

CPI participants also visited Bupyeong Art Center, Munhak theater and play campus. They also took a backstage tour of Small theater ‘Dolce’.
